Are players able to wear casts while playing a game?

Modified on Fri, 26 Sep, 2025 at 3:42 PM

Ottawa South United (OSU) follows the guidelines set out by Ontario Soccer and Canada Soccer regarding player safety and equipment. According to Law 4, players may not wear anything considered dangerous to themselves or others. While non-dangerous protective equipment, such as soft, lightweight, padded gear, is permitted, hard casts are strictly prohibited—even if padded—due to the risk they pose to all players. Players wearing soft casts may be allowed to play only if the referee determines there is no danger. All match officials are expected to consistently enforce these rules across Canada Soccer-sanctioned events. For more details, please refer to the full Canada Soccer Cast Policy.
