According to Law 4 of the Laws of the Game, players are not permitted to wear any items of jewelry during matches, as they are considered potentially dangerous to both the wearer and other players. This includes necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, and similar items. Taping over jewelry is not allowed—all items must be fully removed before play. Match officials are required to enforce this rule to ensure player safety. Families are encouraged to carefully consider the timing of new piercings, ideally opting to have them done in the off-season, as players will not be allowed to play with newly pierced ears that cannot be removed.
